About

The Crimson King is a powerful immortal being whose characteristics mirror both the physical realm as well as the nature of the Prim.

Los is often referred as the Red King and the Crimson King. He is an expert shapeshifter, illusionist, schemer, elementalist, etc. He is a very real individual in reality that knows everything about life, us, Stephen King, and his books who writes on the behalf of Gan's influence yet no one knows that.

The Crimson King is the self-assigned leader of the Random – or the Red – in opposition to the Purpose – or the White.

His sole desire is to topple and destroy the Dark Tower which not only sends life into pure darkness and chaos, but to also gain the rest of Gan's promised power.

The Crimson King prefers to work from behind the scenes via Doctor Sleep, The Shining, Gerald's Game, etc, as a major influence to do evil. His sigil, a glaring red eye, is seen throughout each of the books in which he has appeared; also giving little references in each of them as well. He employs other people to do his bidding, as well as numerous supernatural beings, including Atropos, Mr. Munshun, Dandelo, Randall Flagg, John Farson, and various vampires, low men, can-toi, humans, slow-mutants, demons, Todash monsters, two-faces, entities, Shine Hunters, and taheen.

History

The Crimson King was the bastard offspring of Arthur Eld, a legendary gunslinger and a demonic entity, the Crimson Queen. At some point, the Crimson King took the hierarchy of the Red, and had the plot to topple the Dark Tower, and destroy the reality it holds, so he can rule in the primordial chaos.

He is first properly introduced in Insomnia. He learns of Patrick Danville, a boy who is destined to have a part in the Crimson King's defeat. He and Atropos come with a plot to have Patrick killed in Derry. They manipulate Ed Deepneau to crash an explosive-rigged light plane into the Derry civic center, where a heavily attended women's rights rally is being held, with Patrick present. When Ralph Roberts confronts the Crimson King, he manages to force the light plane to crash, killing Deepneau, and saving Patrick's life, putting him on track for the Crimson King's defeat.

In Black House, he has a serial killer and willing host of Mr. Munshun, Charles Burnside, kill and cannibalize children. The children had the potential to serve as Breakers, humans who have psychic powers. Burnside is killed by Tyler Marshall and Munshun is killed by Jack Sawyer.

Breakers would be taken to a facility called Algul Siento, in Thunderclap, where there is a room that amplifies their powers into a corrosive and damaging force to the Dark Tower. The facility is sacked by Roland Deschain, his ka-tet, and rebel Breakers.

His sanity soon begins to deteriorate, and as it begins to worsen, he kills his minions and even himself. As a result, he becomes undead and immune to Roland's bullets. He finally reaches the Tower but becomes trapped on one of its balconies.

He finally confronts Roland and Patrick in the climax of the last book in the Dark Tower series. He has become powerless but has grenade-like weapons which he throws at them. As predicted, Roland and Patrick bring about the Crimson King's downfall. Patrick captures the Crimson King's image and with his supernatural artistic abilities, a mixture of Roland's blood and rose petals, Patrick erases the Crimson King from existence, possibly sending him todash between worlds.

Since the Dark Tower series is in a time loop, the Crimson King's status is unknown.

....On Earth as Pennywise, the Dancing Clown.

Los was able to get out of the time loop by using his ability to travel through dimensions, multiverses, and time. He took refuge in one of the Turtle's creations called Keystone Earth in order to stay under the radar from Patrick and Roland for a while.

When IT was supposedly in his 27 year hibernation, that was all a lie. He shifted back to his usual form and moved around in the States, being the main evil influence to each and every villian.

After IT Chapter 2, he wasn't dead because Maturin wasn't the one who was killing him, the Losers were. Therefore why it was only a show. He still lives to this day.

Personality

Los is a cold, strict, powerful, ruthless, insane, and a selfish being who won't hesitate to kill, torment, toy, or torture anyone who crosses his path. That includes his own blood, forces, and really anyone except for The Man in Black.

Walter Padick is the only one that he has patience for nonetheless he will listen to and do things for if he asks.

His mindset is based on killing, destroying and reigning hell, pain, and fear upon everyone and everything. And he will go great lengths to do so.

One of the advantages that he has on everyone is that he is always ten steps in front of everybody in everything. His mind can work in a thousand different ways at once, accomplishing a hard task or goal in merely a second.

At all times, his predatory instincts and mind take reign and that is what he bases his base of operations on whether individually or publically.

He is 99% werespider, 1% human. Mostly a purebred spider.

Appearance

Los is very fit and masculine. Being seven feet tall, fully clothed in crimson robes, his visage of how fit he is, is hidden but so is his real form.

His main liking to his form while in his crimson robes is his spider legs.
More agile, flexible, and faster than mere human legs. Though, he changes to either every day when he sees fit, or needs to fit into a setting.

One defining characteristic is his vibrant golden eyes, in which only he has and that alone fascinates/ hypnotizes anyone who looks into them.

Forms

The Crimson King has taken many forms throughout the series. In The Dark Tower VI, Susannah tells Mia that, in her world, people see the Crimson King as a horned, red-skinned monster called Satan. As evidenced in Insomnia, the Crimson King is a shapeshifter, he takes the form most terrifying to whoever confronts him. When he is injured by Ralph Roberts, he reverts first to a handsome, blonde man, and then to a creature Ralph is unable to see properly, suggesting that his true form cannot be comprehended by human beings. When he finally appears near the end of the Dark Tower series, the Crimson King has the appearance of an old man with white hair and one fang, but in the comics he appears both as a monstrous entity with spider-like characteristics much like his son Mordred, as well as a bald man with a large tusk or horn on his head. Throughout all of his appearances his one defining characteristic is his vibrant golden eyes, in which only he has and that alone fascinates/hypnotizes anyone who looks into them. Patrick Danville also mentions that the King fades in and out of view due to his transcendent magical powers.

One of his most breathtaking transformations was when he shifted into a beautiful phoenix when trying to kill Stephen King a few times. As a child, teenager, and an adult.

Important Details

Los is a God. The literal Devil. There is no killing him or defeating him. He is completely God-Tier level in everything. The only one that is able to kill and defeat him is Maturin, the Turtle. Some know him as Los' arch nemesis when he was Pennywise.

That is not true.

Maturin was created by Gan. The very being who created the Macroverse, the start of life who would soon be taken up by Maturin later on. He was disguised as a Beam Guardian to fit in with the others, and to keep the truth secret for a while. He was gifted Gan's light and the ability to create.

Los was born through the Crimson Queen who shortly disappeared after his birth. He was then handed over to Gan after a few tries so he could be gifted the last half of Gan's power; the darkness.

Since both have two different halves of his power, that made Gan be able to give up his life source to the newly designed tower so that in his stead, the Dark Tower would be able to keep everything intact and together. Without the Tower, everything would be destroyed through chaos, turmoil, and disarray.

That immediately makes them counterparts in power. Some refer to them as "brothers", but this is through power, not blood.

When it comes to both of them, both cannot live without the other, though, all things considered, if one of them kills the other purposely or on accident, the other one will eventually die within a day, following. And if that happens, all life itself will end.

They are the two most powerful beings in existence.
